So I started researching cranberry juice as a way to prevent urinary tract infections. I have had issues with this condition for awhile and not having much luck preventing it. I read many articles stating that cranberries really do help by discouraging bacteria from attaching to your urinary tract.
Apparently, no one knows for sure. WebMD says it seems to work for some. In an article titled Are Cranberries Good for UTI Prevention? They say, “It could be that nutrients in cranberries change the bacteria so that they can’t stick to the urinary tract. Or it may be that cranberries create a slippery coating on the urinary tract walls that makes it hard for E. coli to get a good grip.”
While I cannot say yes or no, I can tell you that I used to have UTIs frequently, but since I started taking a cranberry supplement, I no longer have that problem. Try it for yourself, but be advised to check with your doctor first. WebMD states,” If you take the blood-thinning medication warfarin, you should avoid cranberry products, because cranberries can interact with warfarin and cause bleeding.” So Always check with your doctor before starting any new supplement. I take chewable CranActin by Solary. They are easy to take and taste great!
